Torrance, Calif., August 29, 2016 – Aurora, a leading cybersecurity services and solutions provider
specializing in security and compliance solutions for businesses, announced today that it has donated
backpacks including school supplies consisting of pencils, pens, paper, folders, and much more to D.E.S.I (Designated Exceptional Services for Independence). D.E.S.I. provides a variety of non-profit human services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in economically disadvantaged, traditionally underserved neighborhoods throughout East and Southeast Los Angeles County. Many of their clients and families lack adequate resources to prepare for the new school year
“Every chance we get to spread a little cheer, supplies, food, funds, etc. in any way for great causes like this one reminds us that helping others where and when we can is another reason why Aurora exists” said Aurora’s CEO, Philip de Souza. “Who knows, we could have possibly given a pencil to our next president, a backpack to a future ER nurse, a pad of paper to a future CEO.”
“We are ecstatic about receiving this exciting, generous and much-needed donation from Aurora,” said
Elizabeth Jinzo, Founder and Executive Director of D.E.S.I.
According to Jinzo, the backpacks will be given to needy individuals, including those who participate in D.E.S.I.’s Extra Helpings Program, an in-house food donation program for clients, their family members and their community circle-of-support. D.E.S.I.’s clients—many of whom engage in volunteerism—will have the opportunity to help distribute the bags.
“Aurora is a fantastic partner for making a positive change in our community. We are already seeing the smiling faces that result from these backpacks getting into deserving hands.”
